The technology industry has gone to great lengths to provide abstraction layers for every user to store, analyze, access, and retrieve data residing in cloud-based data repositories inside dedicated datacenters.
Data democracy challenges the notion that every application requires its own database. It may make sense for data to be stored in silos, but they need to appear as one coherent source of information—and this is where cloud-based Database-as-a-service (DBaaS) comes into place.
