Four Russell Group universities enable remote learning with Azure Virtual Desktop

If you’re The Russell Group representing dozens of universities in the UK, you turn to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop. • Imperial College London deployed Azure Virtual Desktop to deliver 450 apps to 20,000 remote students using different devices. • Newcastle University only needed a single Azure tenant to serve 26,000 students on three campuses around the world—granting up to 4,500 per day remote access to campus-level computing power. • At University of Leeds, IT staff went live with capacity for 2,200 concurrent connections in just one week. • University of Nottingham used Microsoft Teams to facilitate its move to Azure and Azure Virtual Desktop—taking only two days to replace an aging VPN system and begin granting remote access to its specialized software.
